We are a professional, yet fun, group of guys playing Funk music. Our vision is to have a solid grooving Rhythym section with an energetic frontman/singer matched with a powerful 5 piece horn section. We have achieved all except permanent solid horn players. We have a solid group of horn players but due to scheduling conflicts we find ourselves needing to move from "hired guns" to "band members". We are trying to do something special and make good $$. I have very (VERY) basic guitar skills as well and understand a little musical theory. I'm willing to sing lead or back-up. I am recently moved to the area. I play tenor sax. I have fairly phenomenal chops and am into free jazz and avant garde music. I just got my big horn out of the pawnshop and want to start a new project. I want to make some new standards. The standards in the real book if you stop and think are hardly songs 'everybody knows' any more, and I feel strongly that this is where and why jazz music and musicians have lost their way. Nobody barely comprehends jazz anymore, because it doesn't speak to them. I am thinking along the lines of ten minute versions of popular songs from the last 40 years. I need an UPRIGHT bass player first, and then we can add a drummer and maybe keys or guitar. I want to keep the band small so we can all take really long solos and really stretch out. You must be a strong improviser, have no concept of stage fright (although we can work on that) and you must own and possess an upright bass. And you must love free jazz, and by free jazz I mean Ornett, John Coltrane's later work, and the work of Sonny Blount, aka Sun Ra, and or Cecil Taylor.

Sometimes there are some adds that are not what they are meant to be, the professionalism that we would expected from these adds are afars, it may not be what it seems to be. You are lied to and brought along only to be let down by the miss leading talents the say they proclaim to have.

Believe me when I tell you that they are lazy, and promise big things only for you to do all the work, when really they are controlling and when you voice what you think is the truth they send lawyer letters to your mail. They don't even pay you and you have to stay in constant touch or your banished, they constantly change dates and make you think it is of importance, they also talk behind your back and can't say it in front of you.

Remember, In all the while they are very untalented and have sloppy equipment, did I mention lazy..........

Be careful, Good luck to all who take on the so called gunslinger position, you will need it
