condition: excellent
make / manufacturer: Pyrex
model name / number: Refrigerator Dish
Vintage Pyrex dishes are oven-safe and made in the good old USA. Excellent condition, no chips or cracks or scratches.

These refrigerator dishes came in 3 sizes 501 (1.5 cup) #502 (1.5 pint) #503 (1.5 quart). These 2 are the 501 series which were made between 1947-67. Unlike modern day products, Pyrex is a great durable design. Unlike a fragile, unwearable vintage lace dress, Pyrex can still be used day in and day out with no decline in quality of the product. Pyrex bowls were originally made of borosilicate glass, which is very resistant to thermal shock. Currently, Pyrex is made of soda-lime glass, presumably as a cost-cutting measure, as soda-lime glass is very inexpensive. Borosilicate PYREX Glass has excellent thermal shock resistance. It does not expand or contract like ordinary Soda-Lime glass does when exposed to rapid changes in heat or cold.

To identify Pyrex use the glass markings, stamps, and logos on the pieces themselves to identify when the glass was produced. The oldest Pyrex markings should be on the bottom of glass pieces and feature Pyrex in all capital letters inside a circle with CG for Corning Glassworks.

Also have a blue 502 series on another ad.
