Very rare Thom McAn sign from the old Ames formally Zares Department Store in North Dartmouth MA. This is the infamous shoemaker. Sign is from 1970/80s. Get a piece of history from a great shoemaker and from a blast from the past Department store.

The sign is encased in a high quality wood decorated with the infamous Thom McAn Green and Gold logo at top fasten by 4 strews. The middle section shows a picture of a typical retail store in the background with the words Quality Leather Footwear in the foreground. The lower portion states $29.99 for most styles. Full Grain LEATHER Uppers. Pullout Sock with PORON 4000 Heel Cushion, and Wide Width Styles Available. This entire section is protected by plexiglas and fastened by 4 round gamets.

Have example of similar sign displayed in store to get an idea of what it looked on display. When Ames went out of business, they had a huge liquidation sale and as you can see sign still has the green "Make Offer" sticker on it.

History:

Ward Melville created the Thom McAn brand with J. Franklin McElwain, a New Hampshire shoe manufacturer. The name was inspired by Scottish golfer Thomas McCann. The first Thom McAn retail store opened in New York in 1922, selling a few simple styles at a low fixed price.

Thom McAn is an American brand
of shoes and was formerly a retail chain. It is currently in Kmart and
Sears stores. It consists of leather-dress, casual, and athletic shoes (under its Tm Sport label). Until the 1990s, Thom McAn had hundreds of retail stores in the US, and was one of the oldest and best-known shoe retailers in the country. As of late 2008, the brand was controlled by Sears Brands, LLC.
